Richardson reflects on time at TU
Tulsa is entering a new era of basketball with the recent hiring of Danny Manning. Excitement is high and fans are ready to build on the Golden Hurricane tradition that began 32 years ago with Coach Nolan Richardson.
When Richardson and a group of accomplished athletes from West Texas Junior College arrived in Tulsa back in 1980, no one (outside of Richardson himself) could have been prepared for the transformation that was about to take place.
By the time the magnanimous coach left for Arkansas, Tulsa was firmly planted on the college basketball map with an NIT Championship, three NCAA tournament appearances, consistent national rankings and an exciting style of play that featured some of the program's all-time greats.
