At almost 6-foot-4 and 245 pounds, Cody Green is not your typical quarterback, and his statistics don't jump off the page. Yet, he has guided Tulsa back to the Conference USA Championship game.

The Nebraska transfer was wildly inconsistent early in the season, but a solid Golden Hurricane ground game took the load off his shoulders and gave him time to shake off the rust after sitting out the previous year.

"That comes from not playing for two years, coming in, learning the system -- actually running the system in games -- and then progressing as the season goes on," Green said this week.

He had a tough time stringing two solid halves together, but Tulsa head coach Bill Blankenship said the growing pains were to be expected.
