TU faces new challenge in rematch with Cyclones

Tulsa football coach Bill Blankenship considers it a bonus that the Golden Hurricane saw Iowa State in person this year. He believes it helps evaluation when you've seen a team live. You see things during a game that tape doesn't reveal.

There is only one problem. Tulsa only saw Iowa State starting quarterback Sam Richardson drink water on the sideline when the Cyclones beat the Golden Hurricane, 38-23, on Sept. 1.

Richardson didn't take over the starting job until late in the season and the fact that Tulsa isn't familiar with Richardson gives the Cyclones a unique advantage heading into the Liberty Bowl.
