C-USA schedule allows fresh start for TU
It's been a rough start to the 2013 season for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, but even with a 1-3 record, the start of league play offers TU a clean slate and a chance to defend their conference title.
Start of conference play
Despite being 1-3, all of Tulsa's goals are still intact, as far as winning their division, winning a conference championship and making a bowl game. It all starts with the Hurricane's conference opener against Rice on Saturday.
"I think Rice is one of the best teams in our league," Tulsa head coach Bill Blankenship explained. "I think they've got, from what we've seen earlier, they certainly ran the ball up and down the field against Texas A&M. They're a very good football team. They've been a little streaky, but, golly, man, all we have to do is put on our film, and we have enough to say grace over right now."
Last year, Tulsa beat Rice 28-24 on Homecoming at Chapman Stadium. Kalen Henderson made his first career start for TU, but completed just 8-of-23 passes for 201 yards. The damage was done mostly on the ground, as Ja'Terian Douglas ran for 169 yards and a touchdown, and Alex Singleton scored twice.
The Owls come into this game with a 2-2 record and fresh off an 18-14 home win over Florida Atlantic...
