The Washington State University men's hoop team lost DeAngelo Casto, though it was not a total surprise, as the junior forward decided to pass up his senior year of eligibility to pursue his basketball playing options. Current NBA draft models do not show Casto in either the first or second round, meaning he could either try for a free agent contract, land in the NBA's developmental league or play overseas.

Wazzu men's hoop head coach Ken Bone had words of praise after learning of Casto's decision and imminent departure from the team.

"We appreciate everything DeAngelo has given to the Washington State men's basketball program," Bone said. "His effort on the court was always outstanding and it led to a very good season where he earned All-Pac-10 honors. Now that he's moving on to pursue a professional career in basketball, we wish him nothing but the best."

This year, Casto was third on the team with 12.0 points per game and led the team with 7.3 rebounds an outing, ranking 14th and sixth in the Pacific-10 Conference, respectively. He was named second team All-Pac-10 and to the league's all-defensive team at the conclusion of the season. He ranks second in the school's career record books with 165 blocks over his three seasons with the Cougars. Notably, Casto was also temporarily suspended for Wazzu's National Invitation Tournament [NIT] quarterfinal win against Northwestern for his part in a drug arrest charge but had that suspension subsequently overturned.
