TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Taylor Smith scored 17 points and Jacob Parker added 16 on Saturday to lead Stephen F. Austin to a 57-41 victory over Tulsa.
Stephen F. Austin (4-0) also got eight rebounds from Smith and 10 assists from Hal Bateman.
Stephen F. Austin had a 14-5 scoring advantage off turnovers and a 36-14 edge in points in the paint.
Tulsa (4-2) had a cold shooting touch, making just 13 of 42 field-goal attempts, and was just 12 of 22 from the free-throw line.
"There's no silver lining in a loss," said Tulsa head coach Danny Manning. "We have to get better. We have to get back to playing the way we played early in the season, which is together while moving the ball. We had no fast break points. That's not who we are. We're supposed to defend, give up one contested shot, and get out in transition. That's not how we played tonight."
James Woodard scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Tulsa, and Kauri Black scored nine points.
Tulsa cut into a 14 point SFA lead in the second half, drawing within 7 at 37-30, but TU could not sustain the momentum due to costly turnovers (19 in the game) and poor shooting.
