LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - D'Andre Wright scored 15 points and Tulsa made a second-half rally, but it wasn't enough in a 72-65 loss at Arkansas-Little Rock on Saturday.
John Gillon scored 17 points for UALR, connecting on three 3-pointers and grabbing seven rebounds for the Trojans (8-4). James White scored 12 points and Josh Hagins had 11.
UALR had a comfortable lead through most of the game until Tulsa (6-4) made a charge. The Golden Hurricane found itself behind 50-33 early in the second half.
A basket by Zeldric King with 3:23 left in the game cut the UALR lead to 62-58, but Tulsa could get no closer. James Woodard hit a jumper to pull TU within 70-65 with 32 seconds remaining.
D'Andre Wright's 15 points led Tulsa, and James Woodard added 12 points to go with 10 rebounds.
Tulsa outrebounded the Trojans, 40-37, including a 12-6 advantage on the offensive boards to overcome the height advantage of UALR, which featured three players 6-10 or taller. The Hurricane only allowed seven second chance points, while scoring 11, and outscored UALR, 34-20, in the paint.
However, the Hurricane was hurt by poor shooting, hitting only 16-of-28 free throws. TU shot just 25-percent (5-of-20) from three-point range and 40-percent (22-of-55) from the field.
