TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Zeldric King scored 9 points in the final 6 1/2 minutes, including a crucial 3-pointer with 53 seconds left, as Tulsa stormed from behind to defeat Oral Roberts 72-68 on Saturday.
"We came out in the second half and clawed and scratched and came away with a win," said Tulsa coach Danny Manning. "We were very fortunate and happy to come away, but as a team we have to continue to work to get better. There were some positives in this game just in terms of the determination we showed.
"Everybody that played in the game made some type of contribution to the win. For coaches, that doesn't go unnoticed."
Tulsa (7-5) trailed by 13 points at the half and by 15 early in the second half. It didn't make much headway until about 10 1/2 minutes to play, when a 3-pointer by James Woodard cut the Oral Roberts lead to 51-43. Tulsa gradually chipped away after that.
Woodard scored 18 points to lead Tulsa. King added 13 points, Scottie Haralson 12 and Rashad Ray 11.
"James (Woodard) got into the paint in the second half," said Manning. "He came off ball screens and got into the paint, forced help and kicked it out to our shooters in the corners, and made shots. That's what we need him to do. He can shoot the ball well, but we really like for him to slash to the paint and get in there and attack the rim."
Oral Roberts (5-7) got 24 points from Warren Niles and 18 points and nine rebounds from Damen Bell-Holter.
