TULSA, Okla. (AP) - James Woodard had 22 points and eight rebounds and Pat Swilling Jr. added 11 points as Tulsa pulled away late for a 63-57 victory against Buffalo on Wednesday night.
"Today was a game of offensive struggle from both teams in terms of shooting the basketball," said Tulsa coach Danny Manning. "I think you can give both teams a little credit defensively, but on both sides of the court, players missed shots they would normally make, or should have made, or shot a lower percentage than normal."
With the game tied at 51-all with 3:24 remaining, the Golden Hurricane (8-6) scored nine straight points. Woodard had the first seven, on two layups and a 3-pointer, as the Bulls (5-9) missed five straight shots.
Two free throws by Kauri Black made it 60-51 with 32 seconds to play.
Scottie Haralson scored 10 points for Tulsa despite shooting 3 of 16 from the field, including 0 of 9 from 3-point range.
Javon McCrea had 22 points and 11 rebounds for Buffalo.
The Hurricane, playing their first home game since Dec. 8, shot just 39.3 percent (22 of 56) from the floor and 53.6 percent (15 of 28) from the line. The Bulls struggled with their shooting even more, hitting just 19 or 59 (32.2 percent) shots from the field.
