Arnick gets C-USA honor

Conference USA's Defensive Player of the Week honor went to Tulsa junior linebacker Curnelius Arnick this week. It is the second straight week a Golden Hurricane defender has won the honor, as Milton Howell received the accolade last week.
Rice senior signal-caller Nick Fanuzzi was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week after becoming just the third player in 100 years of Rice football to pass for 400 yards in a game. Special Teams recognition went to Southern Miss junior PR Tracey Lampley, who scored one of the Golden Eagles four non-offensive touchdowns in a win at East Carolina. C-USA Football Players of the Week are voted on by a panel of the league's media.

Coming into Thursday's game as the nation's fifth-leading tackler, Arnick had a career-best 19 tackles, including 12 solos and one TFL for -1 yards, as well as one pass breakup in Tulsa's 24-17 road victory over UCF. His solo stop of running back Ronnie Weaver on 4th-and-1 at the Tulsa 39-yard line turned into three Tulsa points and a 10-7 lead in the second quarter.
