On Monday evening, Tulsa head basketball coach Frank Haith announced the addition of former Oklahoma State assistant coach Danny Henderson to the Golden Hurricane coaching staff. A Texas high school coaching legend, Henderson spent the 2016-17 season on the OSU staff, following three seasons as an assistant at Boise State.

"We're extremely excited to have such an established coach as Danny Henderson join our coaching staff at Tulsa," Haith said. "He is an outstanding Xs and Os coach, who has developed an outstanding reputation as a defensive tactician. Danny had incredible success as a head coach on the prep level in Texas before moving to the college ranks, and certainly the relationships that he developed over the years in the state will only add to our recruiting efforts in Texas.

"I'm thrilled that we've been able to add such a great coach and an outstanding family man to help build upon the success of Tulsa basketball. We look forward to Danny, Anna and their daughters, Maddie and Sophie, joining our TU family."

Henderson had an overall 708-172 (.805) record in 25 years as a high school head coach in Texas and was named the 2012 MaxPreps National Coach of the Year. At Flower Mound Marcus, his teams compiled a three-year record of 114-6 and won consecutive Class 5A state titles in 2011 and 2012.

In 2013, Henderson joined the Boise State coaching staff for three years. The Broncos won at least 20 games in each of those seasons before Henderson left to join Brad Underwood in 2016 at Oklahoma State.

"I am very thrilled and honored to work for Coach Haith and represent The University of Tulsa," Henderson said. "Coach Haith's coaching record and reputation speak for themselves, and I just love everything that he and his staff — both Coach Seals and Coach English — had to say about this program that they have built.

"I really like what I see with the student-athletes that we have coming back, along with our incoming class, and I believe we will have a team that Golden Hurricane fans can be proud of both on and off the court."

Henderson replaces Dennis Felton, who recently became the head coach at Cleveland State after three seasons at Tulsa.
