"We're extremely excited with this class of high school seniors," Phillips said in a release. "This trio of players will fit in nicely with our basketball program. They each are extremely talented basketball players, but also fine young men who are excited about the opportunity to receive their degrees from The University of Tulsa."
"Athleticism, basketball savvy and skill were priorities that we were looking for in this class, and all three of them definitely give us those characteristics," he added. "Ryan is extremely quick, and very similar to some of the guards we've had here in the past. Antonio is very athletic and a tremendous perimeter scorer. Ashton has a great future, not only because of his athleticism and size but of his ability to shoot the ball. He's very similar to Jarius Glenn, and he has the ability to score from three-point range."
• Ashton Hall, 6-5, 205, wing forward, Kountze (TX)
Hall led Kountze High School to a 36-2 record and the Texas Class 3A state championship as a junior, averaging 25 points and 13 rebounds. He earned first-team all-state honors as a junior and was also named as the Region MVP.
• Antonio Hanson, 6-3, 170, combo guard, Liberal (KS)
Hanson averaged 17.8 points and 3.9 assists last season while leading his school to a 15-8 record. He shot 52-percent from the field and 46-percent from three-point range, while also connecting on 88-percent of his free throws. Hanson earned second-team Class 5A all-state honors as a junior.
• Ryan McCoy, 5-11, 150, point guard, Houston (TX) Madison
Although McCoy previously reported his junior averages as 14 points and 13 assists, the Tulsa release states McCoy's averages as 17 points, 2.0 steals and 10.2 assists per game. He earned first-team District 17-5A honors his junior season and averaged just over 12 points per game as a sophomore.
