TU releases 2013 schedule

Tulsa has released its 2013 football schedule that includes games against Oklahoma and four other schools that played in bowls last season. TU opens the season on the road at Bowling Green on Aug. 31.
The season's home opener will be Sept. 7 against Colorado State, followed by a trip to OU the next week. Other home games are against Iowa State, Rice, Texas-San Antonio, Marshall and North Texas. Tulsa plays road games at Tulane, East Carolina, UTEP and Louisiana Tech.

OU, Bowling Green, Iowa State, Rice and East Carolina each played in a bowl game following the 2012 season. Tulsa is coming off an 11-3 season in which the Golden Hurricane won the Conference USA title and the Liberty Bowl.
"There are some familiar teams that we know will be challenging," said Tulsa head coach Bill Blankenship. "We're excited about our non-conference schedule against two Big 12 teams, the Mountain West and Mid American Conference teams. Three of those four opponents made bowl games last season. We know that the home game against Iowa State will be especially interesting given the brief history between the two teams, and Oklahoma is always one of the nation's best teams."
"We know the toughness of our conference schedule with the returning league teams that we have played recently, and adding three new teams - Louisiana Tech, UTSA and North Texas - to the mix will be fun for our players and fans."
Season tickets for the 2013 home season will go on sale next week.
