Tulsa adds 2011 QB commitment

6-foot-2 and 190-pound quarterback Joseph Calcagni of Springdale, Arkansas, was the most impressive in his group at Tulsa's one-day prospect camp at H.A. Chapman Stadium on Saturday. His performance earned him a scholarship offer from the Golden Hurricane, and on Sunday, he gave a verbal commitment to Tulsa coaches.
"I'm going to be a Golden Hurricane," he told InsideTulsaSports.com on Monday morning.

"Tulsa has great coaches. I knew it was the right fit for me. It also has great academics, so I can get a great education, and it's only an hour and a half away from my house."
Tulsa was the first to offer Calcagni, but he was getting attention from several schools, including Arkansas, Memphis, Rice, Central Arkansas, TCU, Kansas and Arkansas State.
The strong-armed gunslinger said he was recruited to Tulsa by offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Chad Morris and assistant coach Archie McDaniel.
"I think Coach McDaniel and I have a great relationship," he added.
As a junior last year, Calcagni completed 195-of-315 passes for 2,559 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also rushed for 389 yards and six scores, and he hopes to add to that success as a senior.
"I have a bunch of team goals," he described. "I really would like to win 10 games, go to the playoffs and win state! I would also like to have the number one offense in the state this year.
"My personal goal is to stay healthy and be the leader on the team, so I can help my team win."
Calcagni is the ninth commitment for Tulsa in the class of 2011, and the third in the past 24 hours.
