League City (TX) Clear Springs wide receiver Peyton Sawyer received an offer from Tulsa on March 25, and just over a month later, the 2018 prospect committed to the Golden Hurricane.

"When I went there, it felt like home - everyone and everything felt right," he told Inside Tulsa Sports shortly after making his decision. "I love how they run things with the program and the football team - it's awesome. My family was right there supporting me, and they love it too."

The 5-foot-11 and 170-pound athlete attended Tulsa's Junior Day in late March and came away impressed with the campus, the environment and the coaches.

"I loved it - it's beautiful and well put together," he described. "(The coaches) treated me like one of their own when I went and made it a great experience for me. They’re absolutely great. I'm looking forward to learning from the best."

While Tulsa was the only school to extend an offer thus far, Sawyer was getting serious interest from Texas Tech, Purdue, Texas State, Louisiana-Lafayette and Southeastern Louisiana.

As a junior last season, Sawyer put up just under 1,800 all-purpose yards, averaging 163 yards per game. At receiver, he caught 48 passes for 817 yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging 17 yards per reception. He also averaged 8.5 yards per attempt when running the ball.

Sawyer also came up big on special teams for Clear Springs, returning 16 kickoffs for 685 yards -- a whopping 42.8 yards per return with a long of 95 yards. He also averaged 17.1 yards on 12 punt returns and had a total of six scores on special teams.

"I get separation and use my speed," he added.

An excellent athlete, Sawyer also excels on the track and the baseball diamond. He was recently a district champion in the 110m hurdles.

Tulsa now has four verbal commitments in the 2018 recruiting class. Sawyer joins Norton (KS) 3-star quarterback Jace Ruder (ranked No. 13 nationally at his position), Skiatook (OK) 3-star running back TK Wilkerson and Jones (OK) DE/TE Dalton May.
