Last spring, the pipeline of talent from Cedar Hill (TX) High School to the University of Tulsa began with the signing of three talented players -- Terrel Nemons, George Clinkscale and Cedric Godfrey -- who are all seeing playing time as true freshmen at Tulsa.

In July, THA broke the news that Tulsa coaches had secured the pledges of two more Cedar Hill players in 6-foot and 180-pound wide receiver Jerrell Norton and 6-foot-2 and 307-pound offensive lineman Brandon Washington.
The THA staff recently spoke with Cedar Hill Head Coach Joey McGuire to find out how his two Tulsa commitments are faring in early season action.
"Both players are having outstanding seasons for us thus far," said McGuire. "Jerrell has played quarterback, wide receiver and running back for us already. He started out as our quarterback, and in his first game rushed for 174 yards and passed for 198 yards. Writers for the papers down here are calling him the next Michael Vick."
"After four games, he has carried the ball 56 times for 318 yards and seven touchdowns. He has passed for 207 yards and another three touchdowns, while catching 13 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns. I even plan to have him return punts and play safety in our nickel defense."
"Jerrell can really do it all," McGuire added. "I feel he's one of the best athletes in the nation."
In Cedar Hill's 42-26 win over Arlington Sam Houston last Friday night, Norton rushed five times for 34 yards and caught four passes for 69 yards, including a touchdown of 22 yards.
Brandon Washington is considered by Coach McGuire as the anchor and leader of his offensive line. Washington's play and leadership has helped the Cedar Hill team to be ranked as one of the top ten offensive teams in the Dallas area, with an average of over 400 yards of total offense per contest.
"Brandon's the leader on our offensive line," McGuire explained. "He's our 'bell cow'. He's really been playing well and leads by example. He's graded out at 89-percent for our first four games and has a team-leading 43 pancake blocks."
Coach McGuire concluded by talking about his team's chances to advance to the playoffs and his impression of the Tulsa team when they played at North Texas recently.
"Right now we're 3-2 overall, but more importantly, we're 2-0 in district play. I feel good about our chances to advance through district and then move on to the state playoffs."
"I got a chance to go up to Denton recently when Tulsa played there. The team looked really good. It was good to see my kids. I try to call them about once a week to see how they're doing, and I stay in contact with (Assistant) Coach (Todd) Graham. As a matter of fact, he just called me a couple of nights ago. I feel real comfortable sending my kids there to play for that staff."
