Kinne earns C-USA honor

After leading Tulsa to its seventh consecutive victory and 12th C-USA win in a row, Tulsa senior quarterback G.J. Kinne has been named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week.
The Defensive Player of the Week honor went to Houston senior linebacker Sammy Brown, who led a dominating defensive performance in the Cougars win over SMU with a career-best day. Special Teams recognition went to Rice junior kicker Chris Boswell, who kicked a pair of 50+ yard field goals in the Owls win over Tulane.

C-USA Football Players of the Week are voted on by a panel of the league's media.
Kinne led Tulsa to a 57-28 road victory against UTEP by completing 21-of-27 passes for 300 yards and three touchdowns as the Hurricane offense put up 500 yards of total offense. Kinne also rushed three times for 33 yards and one TD, a four-yard run.
His touchdown throws covered nine, 53 and 27 yards. To start the game, Kinne led Tulsa on two consecutive scoring drives covering 81 and 79 yards to give the Hurricane a 14-0 lead with less than eight minutes off the first quarter clock. Coming out of halftime ahead 29-15, Kinne led Tulsa on a pair of third quarter scoring drives that covered 52 and 71 yards.
It is the fourth consecutive week that a Golden Hurricane player has earned a weekly Conference USA accolade.
