TU suspends two; Owens not returning

University of Tulsa head coach Bill Blankenship announced today the indefinite suspension of two Golden Hurricane football players, redshirt freshman Kalen Henderson and grayshirt freshman Zik Asiegbu, for violation of team policy. He also confirmed that WR Jameel Owens would not return.
Kalen Henderson had been battling for the No. 2 spot on the quarterback depth chart this spring. He sat out last season as a true freshman.

Asiegbu, a 6-foot, 190-pound linebacker from Grand Prairie, Texas, enrolled at Tulsa in January and has participated in spring drills.
InsideTulsaSports.com reported last month that Owens was likely done at TU, and today, the University announced that he would not return to school. TU said he had previously been on a leave of absence from the team.
Owens transferred to Tulsa from the University of Oklahoma in January 2010 and was granted a full transfer waiver to be eligible immediately. He left OU to be closer to his ill mother in his hometown of Muskogee.
Last season, Owens caught 18 passes for 246 yards and six touchdowns in 13 games for the Hurricane.
