Tulsa adds Texas sleeper to commit list

The University of Tulsa picked up another commitment this weekend in 6-foot-2 and 220-pound linebacker Cornelius Arnick from Dallas (TX) Carter High School. Arnick played defensive end, tight end and linebacker at Carter, but was recruited as an outside linebacker for the Golden Hurricane.
"I'm already back at home," said Arnick. "I committed to Tulsa this weekend and won't be making any other visits. It's a solid commitment."

Arnick is a versatile athlete, earning all-district on both sides of the ball as a senior in football and participating in the regionals in track.
"I was first-team all-district on defense and second-team all-district on offense," Arnick explained. "I led our team in tackles (82) and sacks (10). I also led in receiving (13 catches for 324 yards) and scoring (seven touchdowns)."
"I made it to the regionals in track last year in the shot and discus. I threw 154-feet, 7-inches in the discus and 47-feet, 2-inches in the shot."
Arnick flew somewhat under the radar, having only made one other visit before committing to the Golden Hurricane, but his speed and strength will be utilized in the future for the turnover-minded Tulsa defensive unit.
"My only other visit was to San Angelo State," Arnick concluded. "But after my visit to Tulsa, I'm done. I'm solidly committed to them."
"I think I'll bring a lot to the team next year. I'm going to play outside linebacker. I'm a good pass rusher and come off the ends really well. I also can create a lot of turnovers."
Arnick was recruited by Tulsa tight ends coach Dean Jackson, who is familiar with the Dallas metroplex, due to his previous high school coaching experience there.
