Tulsa in touch with Seals

After recently graduating from high school, 6-foot-3 and 210-pound linebacker Trey Seals will attend a year of prep school at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia. The 2011 prospect has been in touch with a number of colleges, including Tulsa, and he is hopeful that scholarship offers will come his way soon.
"Tulsa, Buffalo, Illinois, Oregon, Wisconsin, Iowa State, Ole Miss and Maryland," he listed as schools he is hearing from the most. "Those are a few, and none have offered yet.

"Tulsa is a great school and has a good football team. They always have a chance to win the Conference USA Championship every year, which isn't a bad thing. I have a very high interest in them."
Seals says he has been staying in touch with Tulsa secondary coach Van Malone, labeling their relationship as "great."
"We seem to have a lot in common," he said. "We talk at least once a week."
Seals explained that he would like to visit Tulsa in the near future and expects to make his college choice "sometime in December," but he is currently looking for that first offer.
"No true favorites at this time, I'm just going to wait for some offers to come in," he stated.
In determining which college is the best fit, Seals has certain criteria in mind.
"If it has my major, which is sport management, and also the academic prestige of the school, he described. "And a program where I can come and contribute early."
In his senior season at Spring Valley in Columbia, South Carolina, Seals collected 95 tackles, seven sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. While he listed his speed as his biggest strength, he also mentioned his "ability to keep separation and change direction quickly. I also have a nose for the football."
Seals is hopeful that a year at Hargrave will improve his academic standing and boost his recruiting.
"The first reason I decided to go there is because it won't mess with my eligibility," he told OrangeandBlueNews.com last month. "I'll get an extra year to develop there and improve my SAT score. I'll be there for an entire school year. I'll graduate from there this time next year."
