The week leading up to Easter has seen reports of three Tulsa men's basketball players entering the transfer portal. First was freshman wing Jarred Hall, followed by junior forward Carlous Williams and freshman guard PJ Haggerty.
Haggerty would obviously be the biggest blow to the TU program, as he was the American Conference Freshman of the Year after leading the Hurricane in scoring at 21.2 points per game.

Haggerty started all 31 games this season, averaging 33.6 minutes per game. Tulsa coach Eric Konkol gave Haggerty the chance to flourish after he was only used in six games at TCU in his redshirt freshman season. If Haggerty does indeed transfer, it would be his third college program in three years.
6-foot-8 Jarred Hall never found consistency in his freshman season and was in and out of the rotation, but that isn't out of the ordinary for a first-year player. He averaged 10.7 minutes in 24 games, averaging 1.8 points and 2.3 rebounds per contest.

Williams, on the other hand, started 25 of 31 games for Tulsa this season after transferring from Pearl River Community College. He averaged 5.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
The 6-foot-5 forward showed flashes of greatness at times. In a 3-point loss to Memphis in January, Williams made 4 of 6 three-pointers and finished with 16 points and 5 boards. Ten days later, he posted 8 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to Tulane.

Tulsa showed marked improvement in Konkol's second season, going from only 5 wins in the previous year to a 16-15 record this year. However, keeping that momentum will be difficult with programs from the SEC, Big 12, etc., offering large sums of money to TU's best players at the end of every season.
There is still the possibility that any or all of these players could pull their name out of the portal and return to Tulsa, but only time will tell. Sources close to the program indicate TU is working to boost its ability to compete in the new NIL landscape.
