Wright has two early offers

The University of Tulsa basketball coaches are still attempting to finish up their 2011 recruiting class, but they have also been targeting prospects in the class of 2012. 6-foot-9 and 215-pound D'Andre Wright from Lawton (Okla.) Eisenhower already holds an offer from Tulsa and lists the Golden Hurricane as a favorite.

"SMU is my top choice because they have been recruiting me very hard the last month and their campus is really nice, but Tulsa is also tops because it's not far from home," he said. "The University of Tulsa is a great school that is great on academics, and I also like that they have a strong basketball program that has created NBA players.

"(Tulsa assistant) Coach (Jeremy) Ballard was the first coach to call me, but I am starting to create a good relationship with Coach Wojcik as well."

Wright has been a bit under the radar due to missing his junior season due to injury.

"I missed my junior year due to a broken leg early in the season," he explained. "I injured myself in the first six minutes of the season. I scored 10 points and had five rebounds in the first six minutes before a player landed on the back of my leg and broke it."

Wright showed major potential as a sophomore when he averaged 12 points and eight rebounds per game. Despite not playing as a junior, he is still rated as one of Oklahoma's top 2012 prospects.

"My strength on the court is that I am a good post player, but I can also step out and hit some jumpers or put the ball on the floor," he described. "I am very versatile.

"I need to improve on my foot quickness so I can put heavy pressure on perimeter players, and I am continuing to improve my strength."

Already with offers from SMU and Tulsa, Wright is also receiving interest from UTEP, New Mexico, Stephen F. Austin and Oklahoma, where his cousin Chris Durley played on the Sooners 1988 squad that reached the national final.

When it comes to selecting a college, location will play a major factor for Wright.

"I will choose my school based on the location, because I only want to be a few hours away from home," he added. "A great school with nice facilities and great coaches."
