Crawford to visit Tulsa this weekend

A two-way athlete, who led his team to a 10-3 record last season and the quarterfinals of the Class 3A playoffs in the state of Texas, is visiting the campus of the University of Tulsa this weekend. Dominique Crawford is a 5-foot-10 and 185-pound speedster from Giddings (TX) High School and currently holds seven offers, including one from TU, who is recruiting Crawford at cornerback.
"Dominique has offers from Tulsa, Purdue, Houston, Texas State, Sam Houston State, Missouri and New Mexico," said Giddings Head Coach Derek Fitzhenry. "He's also being recruited by Baylor, but they haven't offered yet."

"Dominique was a two-way player for us last year. He played running back on offense and safety on defense. He's an explosive athlete with tremendous speed. He's also a track star and won the state 100 and 200 meters as a freshman."
"He's run a 10.6-second 100 meters and a 6.8 second 60 meters, which translates into about a 4.3-second forty. Those times were electronically timed. He's been clocked a number of times at 4.3-seconds in the forty yard dash."
Crawford rushed for 1,181 yards and 16 touchdowns from the running back position as a junior, but according to Coach Fitzhenry, he didn't' carry the ball as much as a senior, but had an outstanding per carry average.
"We spread the ball around a lot more on offense this past year," Fitzhenry added. "Dominique ran for over 800 yards and an amazing 14 yards per carry. He also ran back kickoffs and averaged over 30-yards per return."
"On defense, he played safety for us and had 130 tackles and four interceptions. He was named first-team all-district as a running back and safety and was named first-team all-area as a kick returner."
In an interview yesterday with Jason Howell of SicEmSports.com, Crawford discussed his visit to Tulsa this weekend and the newly hired Tulsa assistant coach recruiting him.
"(Assistant) Coach (Mark) Nelson that left Baylor is recruiting me now for Tulsa, and I'm going up there this week to visit with them and just get to know the school more. Coach Nelson said that the (Tulsa) defensive coordinator liked me and the head coach likes me too."
"Actually, Coach Nelson came by my house last night and visited with my parents a little bit about the school and this week's visit, so I can't wait to get up there."
Crawford concluded by elaborating on his offer from Tulsa and discussed whether he might commit to the Golden Hurricane on his visit.
"I want to say they offered last week, sometime last week," Crawford said. "If I like it (the visit) and my parents like it, I will commit. Coach Nelson, he said the defensive coordinator loved me and they sure need help with cornerbacks, because they only have three in there."
"I'm looking forward to the visit, because I've never been to Tulsa. I watched them play in their bowl game, and I'm looking forward to getting up there and see what the school is like and the athletic program and just getting to meet some of the players and see what they're like. I'm very excited."
