TU commitments performing well

As the college football season gets underway, recruiting often gets overlooked, even though it is a crucial time in the process, as coaches are once again able to telephone prospective student-athletes. High school players are beginning their seasons as well, and THA is following the progress of Golden Hurricane commitments, as well as several of Tulsa's other top targets, to bring you stats, scores and more.
The states of Oklahoma and Texas are fertile recruiting ground for the University of Tulsa. Oklahoma teams began their football seasons last weekend, while Texas schools started the prior weekend. The following is an update on the four TU commitments, as well as other prospects with offers from the Hurricane.

Jerrell Norton
Athlete
6-0 / 180
Cedar Hill (TX) High School
Offers: Committed to Tulsa
Rankings: #67 in the DMN Area Top 100
Update: Norton switched from game-breaking receiver to starting quarterback this season. In his first varsity start at that position, he led Cedar Hill to a 35-30 win over Lake Highlands. Norton ran 23 times for 174 yards and 4 touchdowns, giving his team the winning score on a 1-yard run with 1:19 to play. He also completed 11-of-24 passes for 198 yards.
Norton had a tougher go of it in Cedar Hill's second game, as they faced powerful Colleyville Heritage, led by Florida State commitment Christian Ponder. Colleyville won 35-14 by focusing on Norton, who grinded out 20 yards on 13 carries. He also passed for 68 yards and a score.
Brandon Washington
Offensive Lineman
6-2 / 307
Cedar Hill (TX) High School
Offers: Committed to Tulsa
Update: Offensive line stats don't show up in the paper, but Washington heads up the Cedar Hill line, which makes way for Jerrell Norton to work his magic. Next up for Cedar Hill is Rowlett (TX).
Joseph Agnew
Defensive Back
6-0 / 187
Southlake (TX) Carroll High School
Offers: Committed to Tulsa
Rankings: #77 in the DMN Area Top 100
Update: Agnew has helped lead the SLC Dragons to a 2-0 start. In their opening game, Carroll held Midland Lee to 242 yards of offense in a 48-25 victory. Lee had the momentum in the second quarter, down 7-3 but driving down the field. Agnew stripped a Lee player of the ball after a 19-yard gain, giving SLC the ball, which sparked the rout.
Last weekend, Carroll whipped Coppell (TX), 56-24. On Friday, they host Plano East.
Logan Cawyer
Tight End
6-5 / 235
Commerce (OK) High School
Offers: Committed to Tulsa

Garland (TX) Lakeview Centennial
Offers: Tulsa, Nebraska, Kansas, K-State, Arizona, Illinois, Ga. Tech
Rankings: #63 in the Texas Top 100; #49 WR in the nation
Update: Lakeview Centennial doesn't have the best passing attack around, but having Terrell Turner sure helps. In two games, Turner has caught 10 of GLC's 14 completed passes. In their opener, a 10-0 win over Frisco, Turner caught 5 passes for 41 yards. Last weekend, in a 44-21 loss to Plano, Turner made 5 more grabs for 176 yards and two touchdowns.
