Tulsa made history in Fresno with one of the biggest FBS/D1 comeback victories ever. Down 31-0 early, the Golden Hurricane fought off a sluggish first quarter and forced the game into double overtime where Dane Evans finished off the Bulldogs with an 18-yard run up the middle.
Here’s a look at team and individual accomplishments that took place Saturday afternoon and how things are shaping up in the TU record books after the Golden Hurricane’s exhilarating win:
WR KEEVAN LUCAS
• Lucas finished the game with 103 yards and two touchdowns. It was his ninth career 100-yard receiving game.
• For his career, Lucas now has 2,457 receiving yards, 22 receiving touchdowns, and 181 career receptions.
• Lucas surpassed #12 Chris Penn (1991-93), #11 Trae Johnson (2007-10), #10 Steve Largent (1973-75), #9 Garrett Mills (2002-05), and #8 Donald Shoals (1999-2001) on TU’s all-time receiving yards chart.
• He is now tied with Keyarris Garrett (2013-15) for seventh on TU’s all-time receiving touchdown chart. His next touchdown will tie #6 Garrett Mills.
• Lucas needs four receptions to tie #8 Donald Shoals on TU’s all-time chart.
QB DANE EVANS
• Evans finished the game with 273 passing yards (22-32) and four touchdowns.
• Evans now has 713 career completions and has surpassed T.J. Rubley (1987-91) for third on TU’s all-time chart.
• He now has 9,212 career passing yards and became the fourth TU quarterback hit the 9,000-yard mark. He needs 112 yards to surpass Rubley (1987-91) for third on TU’s all-time chart.
• Evans also now has 9,251 career yards of total offense and has surpassed Rubley for third on TU’s all-time chart.
RB D’ANGELO BREWER
• Brewer rushed for a career high 252 yards, which was also the fourth-best rushing performance in TU history.
• Brewer’s 46 attempts tied Ron Jackson’s school record (1991 Freedom Bowl vs. San Diego State).
RB JAMES FLANDERS
• Flanders rushed for a season high 101 yards, which was the second 100-yard game of his career and first since 2014 vs. Texas State.
WR JOSH ATKINSON
• Atkinson finished with 107 yards and one touchdown on 10 receptions. It was the seventh 100-yard receiving game of his career.
• He now has 1,833 career receiving yards and needs 167 to hit the 2,000-yard mark.
TEAM NOTES
• Tulsa’s 31-point comeback is believed to be the second largest comeback in FBS/D1 history (tied with three other games: Maryland vs. Miami in 1984, Texas Tech vs. Minnesota in 2006, and TCU vs. Oregon in 2015-16). The largest deficit overcome in an FBS/D1 game was 35 points (Michigan State vs. Northwestern in 2006).
• Tulsa’s 617 yards of total offense marked fourth time TU has hit the 600-yard mark and the ninth time TU has hit the 500-yard mark in 17 games under Philip Montgomery.
