Tulsa Football: Inside the Numbers - Week 9

In yet another display of Tulsa’s balanced offense and improved defense, the Golden Hurricane improved to 7-2 with its convincing 45-24 victory against East Carolina. And like so many of this season’s contests, there were some records broken and notable performances that took place as well. Here’s a look at what happened on Saturday and where things stand with the school’s all-time charts:

QB DANE EVANS

• Senior quarterback Dane Evans finished the game with 274 yards passing and three touchdowns. Evans now has 10,568 passing yards and trails Paul Smith (2003-07) as the school’s all-time passing leader by 368 yards.

• Evans also finished the game with 258 yards of total offense and now has 10,587 yards of total offense. He trails G.J. Kinne (2009-11) by 244 yards for second on the school’s all-time chart.

• In AAC play, Evans now has 9,678 passing yards. Already tops on the conference’s passing chart, he needs 322 yards to become the first AAC quarterback to reach the 10,000-yard mark.

WR KEEVAN LUCAS

• Senior receiver Keevan Lucas finished the game with nine receptions for 91 yards and one touchdown. Lucas is now in sole possession of fourth place on Tulsa’s all-time reception chart with 210. He was previously tied with Garrett Mills (2002-05).

• Lucas now has 2,907 career receiving yards and needs 45 yards to surpass Damon Savage (1996-99) for fourth on Tulsa’s all-time chart. Lucas also needs 93 yards to become the fourth Tulsa receiver to reach the 3,000-yard mark.

• Lucas now as 217 career reception and has surpassed Savage for third on Tulsa’s all-time chart.

RB JAMES FLANDERS

• Senior running back James Flanders finished the game with 181 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

• Flanders now has 1,084 rushing yards on the season and is the 13th Tulsa player to rush for 1,000 yards in a season. He has surpassed Brett Adams (1989) for 12th on Tulsa’s season rushing chart.

RB D’ANGELO BREWER

• Junior running back D’Angelo Brewer had 180 rushing yards and a touchdown. He now has 983 rushing yards this season and needs 17 yards to become the 16th Tulsa player to reach the 1,000-yard mark.

• Brewer also has 1,948 career rushing yards and needs 52 yards to become the 12th Tulsa player to reach the 2,000-yard mark.

FLANDERS / BREWER

• Flanders and Brewer have a combined 2,063 rushing yards this season, which is the third most combined rushing yardage for a pair of Tulsa teammates. They trail Gordon Brown and Steve Gage (1985) by 30 yards and Micheal Gunter and Ken Lacy (1982) by 498 yards.
